The Concept of Loneliness

The concept of loneliness is the epitome of my existence,
Parents ensconced in narcissism while offspring born empathic,
Love and compassion embodied as a recessive gene within the family tree,
The meadow springs to life despite a frolicking pixie not ready to grow up,
But I say goodbye to the little boy inside and embrace the man I have become

The concept of loneliness is non-existent but it is persistent,
Parents not equipped to raise a child with invisible wings,
To have kissed his little face was to kiss the face of God,
Baby boy came to make you anew for you delivered him and he’ll soon deliver you,
But I say goodbye to the little boy inside and embrace the man I have become

The concept of loneliness gives sight to the blind and gives calm to the storm,
Parents never knew their son walked where angels dwell,
Hush, hush, the faint cries of lightning strikes can hardly be heard,
Another storm lies beyond the horizon like children that choose to stay awake,
But I say goodbye to the little boy inside and embrace the man I have become

The concept of loneliness crescendos even while the melody fades away,
Parents break away like a wave on the run but do tell, was it fun?
They couldn’t take me away because hourglass sand never escapes,
Except when glass breaks and time can no longer be told what to do,
But I say goodbye to the little boy inside and embrace the man I have become

Stranger

I believed in the kindness of a stranger,
Even if there was danger,
And a war raging within me

For once I allowed myself to be naive,
For safety was solitude,
So familiar yet so new

Wild was the world
and lonely was a path,
To get to you

Nothing was more attractive
Than becoming more active,
On the front line

What I knew would break me in the end,
As I flew towards it,
It left me for dead

Like a moth trying to possess the flame,
Glistening so vividly,
As it set me aflame

Nothing could bring me back to life,
After you left me to die
On a road so far away

Love and light shined too bright,
They both left me so blind
Before I crashed as I looked away

Spiritual Law

Two sides of the same coin,

can’t even afford tenderloin,

at the restaurant we went to,

but what else is new?

Whispers of the stock market crash,

trust too easily gives backlash,

falling endlessly,

in complacency.

See it from a new perspective,

if only I were more selective,

I could take a chance,

upon the nosedive I dance,

beneath the moonlight we stride,

amongst men of pride,

Break free of this comfort zone,

or else I’ll end up alone.

I’m too scared to leave this room,

Smoking upon a mushroom,

My name is not Alice,

but I still found the chalice,

it says “drink me”

but my anxiety

keeps me from intoxication

In fear of decapitation

I will not beg you to stay,

if you wish to leave,

then go your merry way,

A world of make-believe

Leviathan

Are you here?
Do you see me
As I lay wading in the water?
I heard you could feel as I do.
I heard you’re here all the time.
Can you stay
until the shadows subside?
Please don’t give up on me!
It’s okay if you’re busy, I’m only human…
But you may be the only one who cares
Just enough to rescue me.

Is it so difficult to reach out?
Why won’t you just take me away?
Perhaps it’s not my time to go,
To be pulled up towards the sky, I sway.

Will your kingdom freeze over
If you allow yourself to fall apart as I do?
If you’re lonely up there all by yourself,
Like I have been my whole life,
Maybe I can save you too?

How can you be so powerful?
Why won’t you let the emptiness cave in?
Your mind is made up.
Your love, a complete mystery, it has been.

Or do you cry with me
As I try to end something that’s not yet finished?
Skipping pages,
skimmed but not yet read?
Paper cuts but not yet red...

Speechless

There were so many people
some were fun
some were evil
everyone got in the way
till you came
by one day
the last time that I saw you
we did coke
in my car
I never thought we’d get far
stumblin’
out of the bar
You took the time to know me
you were sad
I was lonely
I had judged you so quickly
enabled
you slowly
I’m sorry I forgive you
just come back
I miss you
my life is so empty
meaningless
without you
tell me how low you can go
please show me
I must know
love hides behind words unsaid
is that why
you’re speechless?

Meaning from the Strangest Places

1. The orgy scene from the Sausage Party film represents their acceptance of their inevitable demise due to man’s undeniable craving for sustenance.

2. In the Looney Tunes cartoon, the roadrunner represents God and the coyote represents man, endlessly chasing the Divine but never quite reaching it.

3. Scrat’s misadventures in the Ice Age film franchise symbolizes that man’s lust is the destruction of mankind itself. (He tries to “get his nut,” but it always results in catastrophe)

Party in the Clouds

The party in the clouds floats over a viridescent canopy,

whisking me away on a rather lavishing odyssey,

Every time I inhale from anxious beginning to beguiling end,

Playing near the flat line where the fork will bend,

No matter how much blood I shed with broken windows,

I can’t get you out of my veins from which the white girl blows

The flames off all the candles planted in the cake

While matches ignite plants until everyone is baked

No matter how many I dance with too closely on the dancefloor,

I can’t get rid of the pain while I breathe in the clouds once more.

I lost my present when I lost you.

So it’s redundant to say to you

No matter how high the music gets loud

I lost myself in this party in the clouds.
